Take three white-stone Christian quarters of Jerusalem, minimize them twofold, then add a pinch of Bruges and a little bit of Venice. Complement this mix with perfect meat, seafood dishes, and the delicious Croatian white wine Malvasia—and you will have the medieval seaside town of Trogir in Croatia.
Trogir traces its history from antique times, when it was called Tragurion, and was founded by the Greeks in 3rd century BC. Then, it grew into a big port.
Narrow streets paved with stone—some ancient, some newer, but always white—bring you to picturesque views on almost every street corner. You take your camera and shoot practically non-stop.

Getting tired, you enter one of the numerous cafes and order a glass of cold white wine from Croatian vineyards. A wonderful drink picks you up in a moment, and you are ready to hunt for the nice views again.

You may visit any café for lunch or dinner, if a good pasta or pizza is enough for you. But if you are a foodie, we made some investigations for you, having compared the culinary art of different chefs. As it turned out, the best steaks and rumpsteaks, as well as seafood dishes, in Trogir are cooked in the restaurant named Capo.

Afterwards, you may sit for hours in any café on the embankment under the palms (but dont order anything except water or white wine there) and observe mooring yachts and promenading people. It is peaceful and calm in the evening, warm and dry, but already not so hot. Enjoy.
Maybe you like night promenades? Very wise. Try to walk along Trogir at night, and you will be in a fairy tale. Trogir at night is very enchanting, like any small European medieval town.

Are you irritated with crowds of tourists dressed in shorts and T-shirts? No problem. Come to Trogir in October. There will be no shorts and T-shirts anymore; however, the weather will be still warm.
Restaurants will be open, prices in hotels will be lower by 30%, excellent Croatian cuisine will be at your disposal, and all the medieval atmosphere of ancient Trogir with its white walls and pavement will be fully yours. Enjoy peace and quiet.
