This Camdodian temple is undoubtedly a woman. You realize it even before finding out the translation of its name. Banteay Srey means a refuge of women. It was built for them.
It is small and elegant like a genuine woman.
Every line is well balanced, every angle is magnetic.
It is neat and clean like a genuine woman.
It has smooth and soft skin like every woman has.
Though everything is made of stone, one can think that it is a soft sponge until touches it.
Banteay Srey is thrifty. It has not lost any of its decoration after many years.
Banteay Srey Temple kept its stone carving better than all the temples in Cambodia.
This place is worth visiting at daybreak. Not Angkor Wat with its huge crowd, but Banteay Srey. Because it will be not an excursion, it will be a date.
When you go for a date, do you take three dozen of friends with you?!

An exquisite place to take refuge. Are women still allowed to enter this temple. If so, only women visitors?

There is so much detail. One could spend a long time looking. I am intrigued by the size. How tall are the doors?

Like you, I enjoy the peace of place without the crowds. I live in one of the most visited places in the world, but my favorite time to visit is in winter when the whole park is like my own. It still has beauty and very few experience it.
The carvings of the temple above just amaze me. The craftsmanship and design is exquisite. I would love to see this country. I had a friend from there that sent me postcards of Cambodia, knowing as an architect how I would love the buildings. Thank you for this tour. I always enjoy your travels.
